🤘 ARMORDED SAINT’S GONZO SANDOVAL | EXCLUSIVE HEAVY METAL INTERVIEW | DEAN VON MUSIC PODCAST SHOW

Thursday, September 17th, 2026, the Dean Von Music Podcast Show welcomes none other than Gonzalo “Gonzo” Sandoval, founding member an

d legendary drummer of Armored Saint, for an exclusive conversation about his incredible musical journey, the history and legacy of Armored Saint, and what’s happening today in the world of Gonzo Sandoval.

🎸 Gonzo Sandoval takes us back to the early days of Armored Saint, one of Heavy Metal’s most respected bands. Formed in the early 1980s from a high-school rock band called Royal Decree, the group featured brothers Felipe “Phil” Sandoval on guitar and Gonzalo “Gonzo” Sandoval on drums, alongside guitarist Dave Prichard, bassist Joey Vera, and vocalist John Bush.

According to Gonzo, the name “Armored Saint” came to him after watching the classic film Excalibur at a local movie theater parking lot in Monterey Park, California. From that moment, the foundation was laid for what would become an important name in American Heavy Metal and 1980s Rock & Roll.

In 1984, Armored Saint released their debut album, March of the Saint, which featured the memorable MTV hit “Can U Deliver?” The band went on to tour extensively and share stages with some of the biggest names in Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, and Rock & Roll, including Judas Priest, Metallica, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Saxon, Ratt, Testament, Exodus, W.A.S.P., Dio, Accept, Fates Warning, Y&T, Grim Reaper, Malice, King Diamond, Great White, Stryper, Leatherwolf, Lizzy Borden, and many more.

🔥 And believe me… I could go on!
